Guatemalan Links
A lot of my information about Guatemala and a lot of my research on where to visit, I gleamed from the World Wide Web. Below are some of the links that I found very helpful in planning my trip.
- Lonely Planet's Destination Guatemala - from the book series, their site has some very useful, practical information. It was one of my starting sites in my online search.
- 1001 Travel Trips - Guatemala A personal site that contains information about travelling in countries all over the world, it had some excellent tips and information on Guatemala.
- Welcome to Guatemala - the official site of tourism for Guatemala.
- Posada Belen - Posada Belen is the hotel we stayed in the first night. It was a bit expensive compared to the other places we stayed, but it was very nice and the people friendly.
- Finca Ixobel - the web site of the Finca Ixobel, where we stayed for three days.
I also looked at several books at the local Barnes and Noble. I settled on
Guatemala: the
Rough Guide by Mark Whatmore and Iain Stewart. Its information was hip (covering nightlife and dancing [not that we
did any]), detailed (saying what places were good and bad) and well written. After being there I recommend it as a very
helpful and accurate guide. Elizabeth also brought Lets Go: Guatemala, which is out of print right now. It was a
great compliment to Rough Guide covering places in detail that Rought Guide didn't - and visa versa.
